About Charmaine

Charmaine Dominick was born in South Africa and has a lifelong love of art and handicrafts. She has dabbled in leatherwork, copperwork, and pottery, but her primary focus is painting.

For most of the last two decades she has been honing her skills under the instruction of the Liz Stumke. Her primary medium and style is contemporary oil painting.

Charmaine is focused on depicting the beauty of nature in lavish detail. She enjoys painting breathtaking landscapes, majestic beasts, and gorgeous flowers. Living in the picturesque Garden Route region of South Africa, she never lacks for inspiration.

The freedom of expression in the creation process motivates her to keep painting. Charmaine enjoys seeing her works beautify a room, making it a happier, livelier home. She hopes that her paintings can add small moments of joy to others' daily lives.

Charmaine’s favourite artist is Vincent van Gogh. Starry Night in particular has a special place in her heart. Her own recreation helped her through a difficult time in her life, and it remains her favourite creation to this day.

While the eponymous starry night sky draws most people's attention, it is the small village below with lights in the windows that speaks to her. The little lights in the darkness where people live and love, happy despite the chaos and cold.
