Fauna Collection
Depth and realism are a priority in Charmaine’s animal paintings. Fine details and close perspectives bring these dramatic works to life.
Prowling Lioness
This elegant predator with fine fur and a determined gaze has half her face cast in shadow. Ready to spring out of hiding or disappear into the background. A chic golden frame with markings reminiscent of claw scratches balances the darker background nicely.
Haughty Giraffe
This dignified lady appears rather full of herself, but certainly has the looks to back it up. Her fluffy mane and ossicones are backlit by a stunning azure sky. Rendered in soft cream with spots of amber and spicy browns and rimmed with a golden and deep red frame.
Resting Wild Dog
This oppurtunist is shown resting away from the rest of it's pack while keeping its ears poised for danger. The red and brown furs of its neck blends in well with the african savannah while its mottled body and legs break up it's silhouette. A subdued and tasteful frame pairs well with this old predator.
Wild Dogs
Two african wild dogs are depicted exploring the savannah, their attention trained on a new find. Their bright mottled fur is chaotic enough to be lost in second should they flee into the underbrush. A tarnished frame with warm undertones complements the cool background.
Lounging Leopard
This lazy predator projects the smugness and indolence reserved for those with an unassailable advantage. Resting on a weathered branch, it idly scopes out its next meal. A slim an understated frame enhances the piece further.
Stoic Lion
This handsome lion is shown from the side, looking resolutely forward reminiscent of a sphinx. His bright mane is captured by long and lushious brushstrokes with magenta undertones. A flared frame pairs well with this boastful beast.
Baby Cheetahs
These tiny terrors are depicted waiting in tall grasses for their mother to return from her hunt. The siblings stick together, making sure to watch each others' backs for predators.
Zebra Herd
The visual overstimulation of a moving zebra herd is moderated in this still painting, allowing you to separate the animals by where their stripes clash. The subject of this can be seen swiveling its ears, wary despite her fellows. A simple dark frame serves as an excellent foil to their monochrome fur.
Winter Fox
This dandy red furred burglar can be seen cautiously slinking back into the woods after a hearty meal. Clever and lively eyes contrast with the slow and snowy surrounds.
Polar Bear & Cub
This mother and child can be seen trekking accross the arctic tundra, seeking better hunting grounds. The cub sticks close to their mother, both for safety and to shelter from harsh winds. A muted frame that glimmers in the right light matches their pristine fur.
African Fish Eagle
This keen eyed fisherman can be glimpsed along rivers and lakes in much of sub-Saharan Africa. Here it is seen perched on a tree near the water, waiting to swoop down for it's next catch.
